LMMS: Ximena Felices Fiestas

Hello there! It's time for another Inspirational Thursday. This time I used
When I saw this image I thought about celebrations there are in Central America
and in Mexico. Where women wear Folkloric dresses of many colors. Sometimes the
dresses are all white, sometimes white with some colorful access and sometimes bold
and bright colors- which I love personally.
I imagined this dancer in a parade on a cobblestone street so I used an embossing folder
from Cuttlebug/Provo Craft. I also used La La Land Crafts die to make de
"papel picado" decorating above and behind her.

I colored Polka Dot Pals Ximena with Polychromos color pencils on Kraft Cardstock and fussy cut around her. Then I used mounting foam to add dimension to the card.

FaberCastell Polychromos color pencils (+1 Prismacolor) used:
Ivory, Walnut Brown, Burnt Siena, Burnt Ochre, Dark Flesh, Middle Cadnium Red and White.
Black, Cold Grey VI, Walnut Brown and White.
Light Cobalt Turquoise, Cobalt Blue, Middle Phthalo Blue,
Crimson, Mauve, Manganese Violet,
Orange Glaze, Light Cadnium Red,
Prismacolor Jasmine and Polychromos Dark Cadnium Yellow
Colors were used on Kraft Cardstock
to check out the other talented design team members
as well as other LMMS members creations.

Thank you for stopping by.

Once upon a time - Girl Power

Hey there Crafty Friends,

A few days ago my oldest daughter  Jade turned 11 years, she received some money for her birthday and of course one of the first things she wanted to buy was books. She purchased a hardcover book called "Mother Knows Best: A Tale of the Old Witch," from this little shop not too far from our home. The name of the shop is called The Bookworm and every time we passed by it she wanted to go but usually I had groceries or other errands so I finally took her and she was so happy to just be there. I made her a bookmark since she loves reading and we have to make her stop reading to go eat or to work on her homework or do chores... (lol is that making me sound like Mother Gothel?)
I really love the images on this set because they show skinny girls like my daughter Jade but I really love the sentiments too. You can find Girl Power clear stamp set from Kraftin' Kimmie here: Girl Power!

Colored the entire image with Copic markers
added flat star sequins my Mom gave me with a tiny bit of glue
before I ran it through my Scotch laminator.  I punched a hole
on the top in case she wanted to add ribbon or some other charm.

Here is a close-up of the bookmark.

Here are 3/4 of my kids on the side of The Bookworm store window.
I thought this window art was really cool so I had to take a photo.

I hope you liked my bookmark,
my daughter really likes it and I'm happy about that.

Thank you so much for visiting.

LMMS: The Bookworm

Hello and Happy Thursday!

For many, school has begun. My kids started the new school year on August 6th. Felt like a really short summer break, especially when I went to school- it didn't start until after Labor Day in September. heehee
I had started to customize the hair on this cutie from
http://www.littlemissmuffetstamps.com/ her name is Polka Dot Pals Lirienne - it's a rubber stamp and she's currently on sale! I also used clear stamp Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces and this set is on sale as well.

After I inked un my stamp, I carefully tried to remove some of the ink from the hair area.
I wanted the hair area to be light almost like "no-lines coloring," so I can customize and make it
into curly hair and I tried to not mess with the hair barrettes.

When I used the clear stamp Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces I didn't line  up the eye holes like
normally because I wanted her to look like she was actually reading. I wanted her to look like she's looking down at the pages of her book. To do this you just line up the Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces of your choice slightly above the area you normally would. I then darkened the eyelashes and pupuls with a Black Copic Multiliner pen. (With permission) I customized and worked on squiggly and curly lines following Barbara Sproatmeyer's artist lines. So I tried not to change the hairstyle nor the flow of the hair- I did add some bits of fly-away hairs.

Here is the image before deciding on the color of the book.

Here it is all finished ready to give to my daughter.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

Don't forget about the current sale.

I hope you enjoyed the card.

LMMS: Happy Birthday Tabitha

Hello Crafty Friends,

Happy Thursday!

I've been having a little fun coloring this this digi stamp from http://www.littlemissmuffetstamps.com/  called Polka Dot Pals Tabitha and using one of the versatile Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces clear stamps. Polka Dot Pals Tabitha has this super cute short curly hair and a cute little tutu and she's all ready for a birthday party. As you can see below, I used a lot of colors. I wanted a very colorful and happy card. I chose the colors of her clothing using colors I thought went well with the Doodlebug Design 6x6 papers called Fairy Tales.

Here is my completed card using

Here is a close-up

These are the colors I used for the clothing, wings and birthday hat.
I  tend to make swatches next to the image I'm coloring,
If I don't I usually don't remember what colors I used.

Here is the full list of my Copic colors used.
Hair: C9, C7 and a tiny bit of E29
Eyes: C1, C3, E27, E17, Y26, E15 Uni-ball Signo Angelic White
Skin: E11, E17, E13, E11, R22 and E04
Clothing/Wings/Party Hat: BG05, BG07, Y11, Y17, Y35, YR04,
YR07, YG07, YG17, V20, V22, V15, V25, RV06, RV09
Woooo! That was a lot of colors but I really enjoy coloring so
it doesn't feel like a lot of colors when I'm having a good time doing so...
It just takes a little longer.

Here is the inside which was just fussy cutting part
of one of the Doodlebug Design paper.

I hope you enjoyed my card. I hope you can check out all of the
other cards created by all of the lovely and creative ladies over at:

Life With You Is A Fairytale!

Hey There! Just worked on a card with rubber stamp set image from Kraftin' Kimmie called
Princess Petunia. I really enjoyed coloring this stamp again. I have all of these retired stamps and
had only added the cling backing but hadn't organized them. Last week I was kind of sick so I made sleeves for a bunch of my loose Kraftin' Kimmie stamps. I used this month's sketch and the theme for this week too.

I had a little difficulty with my lighting. Usually I can get away with the sun outside
but this time I kept getting a weird tone so I added the picture from inside as well before the card was done.

I liked how the colors pop here more.

I colored her up with my Polychromos colored pencils.

Thank you for stopping by,

Katya Bess
