SBS DT: Steampunk & TV Inspiration

Hi Everyone!

I created a card that I hadn't shown in the blog world. This character was drawn by Abigail Larson for Simply Betty Stamps. Abigail is an amazing artist but I must admit I have been intimidated to color her images sometimes.... Once I get going with the coloring it turns out okay but always afraid of what the artist may think of how the characters are portrayed...

In this case I used Lavinia Outing and you can find her here http://simplybstamps.net/item_1481/Lavinia-Outing-Limited-Digi.htm

I know... it may be scary for some people or not... but I was intrigued by the show Sleepy Hollow and one of the characters sticks out with her bright red hair, her very delicate and feminine ways... most of the time LOL her real name is Katia Winter but her characters name is Katrina Crane and she's a witch. ha!

I tried to color her dress with a sheer lacy top to show the chest. heehee
I used Copic markers to color her
Then I remembered I had The Olde Curiosity Shoppe 8x8 pad from Graphic 45
and the crazy part is that it all seems to match with the image I colored. :D
Isn't that cool when you color something and you find papers to match from your stash??? LOL
Yes I'm one of those crazy people that colors first and then goes nuts trying to find
something to match later...

Okay... well i made her eyes brown instead of green because there was another person
who inspirited me for this coloring.

Hope you like her. I took my sweet time on this image because I wanted to do her justice....

Thank you for visiting.

SBS DT: Happy Birthday Lisa H

Hey Everyone,

On February 14th it was our lovely teamie Lisa Howell's birthday. She loves loves loves Steampunk and Betty has drawn up an image for the occasion.

You can find her on this link http://simplybstamps.net/item_3105/Lisa-H-Steampunk-Bday-Digi.htm

Isn't she cool?

I colored her up with Copic markers
Of course I chose red as part of the colors since it was also Valentine's day
The paper is from DCWV Tattered Time stack (12x12)
My Crafty Friend BreAnn McFarland sent me the gears as part of a Christmas gift.
(She's is looking at this from Heaven)
I fussy cut a larger gear for a little bit of dimension
The faint stamping is from a Heartfelt Creations stamp
which I have misplaced on this messy desk....
I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to stamp that on the edges.

That is it. I hope you like it
I hope Lisa H likes it too.

Thanks for looking.

Slinky Tart DT: Be Stylish

Hey Everyone!

Gung Hay Fat Choy!  (Happy New Year!) I'm back with a shaped card today for Slinky Tart Design Team. I was inspired by the corset this digi stamp is wearing and by my mom who used to sew and had all of these different sewing machines; mostly the Singer brand and I would love to feel on that black metal and how the pieces moved. They would often have gold or metallic designs. Very Steampunky if you think about it. Also, thinking about the amount of manual work and hours it would take to make such a beautiful and interesting creation.

I used The Big Teese digi stamp that I purchased last year, click on the link and you'll find her or you can explore the site and find some personal favorites here http://payhip.com/SlinkyTart.

I colored her up with some of my favorite colors to wear: Red and Black
I cut it with my Silhouette Cameo but I created a card with simple welding in the program.
The paper is from Recollections.
The pearl swirls are from Prima Marketing.
I used Faber-Castell Pit pens Silver and Gold to doodle around
Then some layering with colored Sakura Gelly Rolls
The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts and then used Copic refills to color them up.

Here is a close-up of The Big Teese
I used Glossy Accents to add a glass effect or add a lens to her eye piece.
Here you can see that it is an actual card and not just a flat piece.

The backdrop is my prom dress... of course I can not fit into it anymore
but I love the design and I love the colors. My hubby didn't want to go to the prom and in the end
I convinced him and we found it the night before our prom in San Francisco's Chinatown.
If I remember correctly I only paid $38... maybe a few pennies less...
The price was right and it fit perfectly... well a little tight on my hips but it was okay
I was happy I didn't pay like $300 to $500 like some other classmates. LOL

Hey Everyone!

Just popping in to show some cards.

Today is release day over at http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.com/ hop on over and you'll see the rest of the line up. Today I'm showing a couple of projects that I have created with these super cute digi stamps.

I'm using
Arabian London Princess click on the link to find her on the shop
http://simplybstamps.net/item_3099/London-Arabian-Princess-Digi.htm

Christian The Kid click on the link to find him at the shop http://simplybstamps.net/item_3096/Christian-The-Kid-Digi.htm

Here are my projects:

Arabian London Princess
Colored Arabian London Princess with Copic markers
I used some K& Company Bling I got from JoAnne's
The Flowers are from Recollections
The Paper is from DCWV (I think)
The lace was from Walmart
I tried to give her some abs... you know from all of that belly dancing. LOL
I also tried to make her pants and sleeve sort of transparent.

Christian The Kid
Here is Christian The Kid I also colored him with Copic markers
The pebble paper is from Recollections (I think)
The Cowboy paper is actually vellum.
My Mom found this scrapbook paper I believe at a yard sale....
I wasn't sure when I was going to use this paper she got it for me years ago
but it was perfect with this image- it's from
K&Company and it's a 12x12 Cowboy Printed Embossed Vellum
For the vellum booths and hat I just fussy cut and glued them on white paper so
the colors can pop a little since they were too dark by themselfs.

Here is a close up of Christian The Kid
I tried to go for the weathered looking jeans and colored the hat so it can look old and worn.
I also made it a toy gun. heehee

King Chris

Rio Queen of the Nile

Don't forget to go to

and you will see more inspiration from all of the DT gals
they all have done a beautiful job.

SBS: Rio's 17th Birthday

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say "Happy Birthday Rio!" Hope you are having a very special time young lady. I wish you the best in life- ALWAYS!

I used this image which Betty particularly drew just for Rio's birthday but of course you can buy it and use it for whenever you'd like to use it. Here is the card I made for Rio's birthday using

http://simplybstamps.net/item_3069/Franken-Make-Up-Rio-Digi.htm

I colored her with Copic markers
used a bunch of Halloween stuff that I've gotten in swaps. I would say all decorative
elements and papers were all given in a swap... except the roses and the doily.
Rio love Frankensten so of course I made here in her classic wedding dress only
it's a little tainted.... just to add that Halloween touch to it.
 added some blood splatter.
I like that the Halloween border is so glittery- I cut a few of them just to add
to the areas that were sort of naked on the card.

Will be mailing this out soon...

Happy Birthday Rio.

Thanks for stopping by,

Katya Bess

Slinky Tart DT: Finger Lickin' Good

Hey Everyone!

Back today with a saucy little card....Tamara has done it again and came up with something super sweet and sexy image for us to color and play with.

Today I'm using Culinary Claire 2.0  you can find her here https://payhip.com/b/ezvk or you can browse through her shop https://payhip.com/SlinkyTart

I colored her with Copic Markers and the garter belt I tried to make it sheer as well as her stockings
Found the recipe for love online just typed it up and added a couple of ingredients.
The paper is one of my favorites just wish I had some plain cardstock to match it
it's from Prima Markerting: 6x6 paper pad called The Optimist
The brad on the recipe card as well as the sticky  tag is also from the same collection.
I found the paper pad at http://www.thestamproom.com/
The circle and heart doilies I found those at Michael's and the flowers are from
http://www.wildorchidcrafts.com/ that I got a long time but they match with the paper I
Just inked them with the Copic Refills.

Here you can see a little more detail in the coloring
I wanted to make her frosting dimensional with my pearl pen
but my Krafty Korner is a horrible mess... .... yea...

Anyway, I hope you liked the card.
I had a lot of fun coloring her up and trying to think of something saucy but clean ;)

Thanks for looking.
