7 Kids Crafts: Mermaid Tot sisters

Hello Everyone!

I had so much fun creating this card for 7KidsCrafts.com. If you don't know,  7KidsCrafts.com has a Vendor of the Month every month and it's usually always 20% discount. This  month the Vendor of the Month is Picket Fence Studios and Cardstock. For the Discount on the endor of the Month items make sure to use code: PAPERHOARDING at checkout.

I hope you were able to grab these super sweet Sweet November Vault images because they were only available for one week.
The three vault images were:

Sweet November - Nami
Sweet November - Nalu
Sweet November - Hanalei

Today I used Sweet November - Hanalei and Sweet November - Nalu. I tried to follow along with Amy's video and I did follow many of the colors but because I'm using a different brand of paper I noticed there were was a variation of the way the colors showed up on my paper. I either had to add another color or use a different color altogether. I hadn't tried the skin colors Amy used so I wanted to follow along with that I did have to add R35 to the cheeks because mine weren't as bright as hers. I also had a little challenge following along for the underwater cove so I kind of improvised. heehee Amy colors a lot faster than I do. I still love how these two cuties came out. I went ahead and used my own colors for the hair and for the tails, then next thing you know Amy used some of my blue hair colors on the water so I also had to change the water color in the background. It was really fun following some of Amy's techniques because I really admire her work but but I do love to put my own twist on things as well. For the hair and mermaid tails I used some of my Husband's fish as inspiration for the colors, these little 1 inch fish are called Neon Tetras. Imagine Hanalei and Nalu being that tiny and playing hide and seek. heehee Unfortunately these pretty mermaids went back to the vault today but there are more lovely mermaids to come 1st of the month and on the 20th there will be another set of vault images that you'll want to be sure to grab as soon as they come out.

You can check out Amy Young's tutorial on  7 Kids Crafts FB video tutorial of Hanalei

some of the Copic Colors used:
skin: E31, E55, E57, E04, E35
Eyes:YG03, YG63, YG67
Neon Tetra tail/fins: C1, T2, B04, B12, B01, R17, R14, R22, R30
hair on Hanalei : B01, B12, and a tiny bit of B04
hair on  Nalu: R17, R14, R22, R30
(Gelly Roll Stardust: 725, 719 and 700)

Towards the end of my card making I decided that I didn't want to trim down
the background scene to fit on a A2 sized card so I left it alone and just glued down
on at 6x6 card. I then added little embellishing dies.
Some of the dies are from My Creative Time and the smaller ones are from Craftin Desert Divas.
For the seashells I used a tiny bit of copic and some Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen

Here you can see the Sakura Gelly Roll
pen details, I used 3 different colors for the effect I wanted.

For the little pearl I first added Sakura Gelly Roll
Clear Stardust pent and then I used a Nuvo Drops Jewel Drops
for the jewel on her chest cover. I really need to buy some pearlescent
Nuvo Drops from 7kidscrafts.com so I can give her a pearl next time.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Passionate Paper Creations: Power Poppy Coneflowers

Hello Crafty Friends,

I had loads of fun creating this card using Power Poppy: Easy Breezy Coneflowers. My Mom has many flowers and even works at a school garden. At Verde Partnership Garden there are many pretty flowers, among them there are these bright yellow Cornflowers which inspired me to choose this color. I love that these flowers are available in digital for so I can blow them up or make them smaller if I wanted to. Thank you so much for the friends and sponsors over at powerpoppy.com

I used primarily Polychromos color pencils to color my image.

Cadmium Yellow, Caput Mortuum, Sanguine, Light Cadmium Yellow,
Cadmium Orange, Burnt Umber,
Permanent Green, Hookers Green,
Cold Greey VI, Light Cobalt Turquoise

Then I lightly daubed it with
Distress Saphire (Distress Oxide)

Thank you so much for visiting.

7 Kids Crafts - Have a Snappy Day!

Hello Everyone!

Happy Earth Day! :D

I had so much fun creating this card for 7KidsCrafts.com. If you don't know,  7KidsCrafts.com has a Vendor of the Month every month and it's usually always 20% discount. This month the Vendor of the Month sale is Picket Fence Studios & Select Carstock. I purchased this Beautiful Girls - Isabella from 7KidsCrafts.com a while back, and I believe it's not available at the moment but there are plenty of pretty stamps from Picket Fence Studios. Remember to use code: PAPERHOARDING for the 20% off discount

For my card I used Sweet November Background Builder, City Park - If you purchased Picket Fence Studios - Beautiful Girl, Kate you would get it free while supplies last but you can also purchase the digital background by itself. I purchased Beautiful Girl, Kate but while waited for my package to arrive I started to color the background. Then when planning my cards I noticed that Beautiful Girls - Isabella fit perfectly in the foreground and I decided to used the Sweet November Background Builder, City Park with Isabella instead. I think it came out alright.

sentiment: Kraftin' Kimmie - Oh Snap! (retired stamp set)

I love how it came out! Isabella is out on a beautiful day
sitting at the park admiring all of the beauty around and taking
lots of photographs. Down below you will see some of my process.
First I colored the background, then I colored Isabella.

I was trying to figure out where I wanted to place her and of course
photography is another hobby of mine so I framed her with the
"Rule of Thirds" in mind. If you don't know what the Rule
of Thirds is, picture a tic-tac-toe or a hashtag, you
want to set your focal image in of of the points where two lines meet.

I decided to stamp it straight on to the background because
she has wispy hairs flying around from the light refreshing breeze...
and those little whispy hairs are hard to fussy cut around.
That's my trick on keeping little whispy hairs or other small details. heehee

When all was glued down, I added a little bit of Ranger Ink - Inksentials, Glossy Accents
to her glasses and camera lens for added interest. But before I added the Glossy Accents
to her glasses I used a white Gelly Roll to give her eyelights.
For the necklace and bracelets,  I also colored them in with a White Gelly Roll,
waited until dry and then added color with a Copic marker and finished
off with Glossy Accents to make them look like shiny beads or stones.

I hope you liked my card and got a little inspired to
work with stamps that have intricate details.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

7 Kids Crafts: Nami Never Stop Dreaming!

Hello Everybody!

There is lots of fun going on this week over at 7 KIDS Customers Create! Facebook Group there are three vault images (originally released in 2013.) These vault images will be available only for one week, check them out here: Sweet November stamps.

For today's card I'm featuring: Sweet November - Nami you can also chose her little mermaid sisters Sweet November - Nalu or Sweet November - Hanalei or you can just get them all because they are all just so adorable! Another way to get these cuties is by playing along during the live videos or playing along in the games for a chance to win one or all... I think it depends on the game. Remember the games are here: 7 KIDS Customers Create! Facebook Group

I wanted to create a simple underwater scene. Nami is already in a seated position so it was easy to draw/color sand under her without too much technical thinking.  I colored her up with Copic markers, I added a little shimmer to her tail with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen and added a little Stampendous! embsossing enamel powder to the sand to give it some texture. The "Never stop dreaming!" sentiment is actually from a retired Kraftin' Kimmie stamp set called Serena Sparkles.

Sweet November - Nami
I randomly freehand some starfish and a shell,
one of them looks like a wonky banana starfish... lol

Some of the Copic colors I used:
BG32, BG34
YR61, YR12, YR24, Y,15 Y17, Y06
Y23, Y26, Y28

Many of the colors were repeated throughout and
some I may had added one more color,
for example the ocean, the eyes and seashell.

Here I turned off some of my lights and only left one so you can see
the shimmer a lot better.

The colors I chose for her were inspired by some of the gold fish
in one of our tanks. My daughter Daenerys says she looks like a
mermaid Repunzel. heehee

Thank you so much for visiting.

Friend life would be boring without you

Hello Crafty Friends,

I been looking at all of the stamps I've been hoarding for years and thinking of ways to use them.
I found a few sets I wanted to mix and put together to make this cute little scene. The large "friend" word is from CC Designs: More Scripted Sentiments ARI095. The small sentiment phrase is from The Greeting Farm called: Because of You. The cute turtle and bunny is from The Greeting Farm as well and it's called Down by the Pond. In the background I sort of colored in a little wonky pond just to set the scene. I used Copic markers to colored everything and I added a little bit of Spectrum Noir sparkle pen on the turtle's shell. The rectangle die is from My Creative Time.

Thank you for stopping by.

7 Kids Crafts: Hibiscus

Hello Everyone!

Here is another new image I want to share with you using Red Hibiscus Designs - Botanicals - Hibiscus by artist Luisiana Lowry, who also designs for www.7kidscrafts.com. You can find the rest of her beautiful digital art here: Red Hibiscus Design digial stamps

Copic Markers:
RV21, RV23, RV25, Y08, T1, N2
Y14, YG17

Distress Ink:
Mowed Lawn

Taylored Expressions 6x6 Designer Stencil:
Mosaic Leaves

The Greeting Farm sentiment:
Bloom Kit

Rectangle dies is from:
My Creative Time

When I saw this hibiscus, I thought about Hawaaii and it's lush green landscapes
with many colorful flowers and yummy fruit.
I have this stencil from Taylored Expressions that I wanted to use.
First I masked the hibiscus with a printer paper mask I made. Then,
I used Mown Lawn Distress Ink all around it but tried not to be
too heavy. When I had enough coverage I place the stencil over the
card layer and used the same Mown Lawn Distress Ink. I wanted to have
leaves in the background but I wanted them to be subtle.
I used a rectangle die from My Creative time and sort of gaged
where I wanted to place the sentiment and chose one from The Greeting Farm's
Bloom rubber stamp kit. I used Gold tinsel embossing powder from Martha Stewart.

Here you can see the tinsel embossing a lot better.

I hope you liked the card and I hope to see you all over at

for all of the fun stamp releases and events going on.

7 Kids Crafts: Don't doubt yourself

Hello Crafty Friends!

It feels like it's been a while since I've been here.... that's what one week of vacation will do to ya. heehee. I went to the French Quarter, New Orleans- what an interesting place! I was inspired by many things and you'll probably see it in today's card but also in future cards. Not only did I go to the French Quarter but I also went to the Bayou. At first it may seem like a hot wild jungley place with lots of humongous bees but when you sit still and pay attention... you'll discover the beauty in all of your surrounds. There were several species of birds with their lovely songs- some that I don't know the names but also this beautiful bird called the egret, snakes, alligators, pretty dragonflies, Spanish moss decorating the trees light Christmas garlands, varying types of lavender iris and lilies. One flower in particular was a yellow lily and lily pads for this card I didn't color my flower all yellow but it seemed that my eye caught it's beauty a lot better than I did with my camera. Now that I'm not on vacation I'm left with many of the sounds and visions of what I saw, felt and heard. I did get some photos though... don't get me wrong just not very many of the yellow lily pads. heehee.

Kelly has already introduced Luisiana, the artist and designer for Red Hibiscus Designs along with a couple of freebies for us to play with but today is the big release day with 4 new stamps. The stamps will be exclusively sold at  7 Kids Crafts. For this card I used Red Hibiscus Designs: Water Lily but I added the lily pads. When I was out in the bayou the water was quite dirty and in some spots in looked very dark but the beauty of these flowers and plants all around remained. There were little seeds and pollen floating in the air making it look like a scene of a fairyland. I found this beautiful quote/poem from Suzy Kassem and I decided to handwrite it. The quote/poem reads:

Whenever you should doubt your self-worth,
remember the lotus flower. Even though it plunges to
life from beneath the mud, it does not allow the dirt that
surrounds it to affect its growth or beauty.

Copic colors used:
RV0000, RV000, RV00, RV02, RV13, Y00, Y02, Y35, T0, T1
YG17, YG67
C8
Distress Oxide:
Black Soot
(water) and Scattered Straw
Pale Periwinkle

This was in the middle of working on my card.
As you can see I only colored a little more than half way
with the C8. I then, printed another lily with just basic
printer paper to create a mask- the paper is still good
where the Distress Oxide doesn't seep through to my colored image.
I used Distress Ink: Black Soot and then with a brush I
damped it in a small amount of water. I didn't want it to drip but just
enough to react with the Distress Oxide and then I added
a little bit of Distress Oxide: Scattered Straw to add a tad bit of color
to those spots. When the Distress Oxide was dry, I hand-wrote the
quote/poem with a uni-ball Signo angelic white pen.
I noticed that the white pen mixed a little with the Distress Oxide
so I waited a little and wrote over it again. when I finished
I added some Nuvo Jewel Drops: Pale Periwinkle

I hope you grab some of the new line of stamps
Also, Sweet November vault images will be release on April 20th and will be available only for a limited time.

7 Kids Crafts: When Life Brings You Troubles

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're having a day without troubles. I had fun creating this image with Distress Oxide and water. I created another card with a similar technique which I talk more about here: 7 Kids Crafts: My Heart Belongs To You. I'm really loving this cute little image from Picket Fence Studios this one is called Kylee Boo - S118. To color her Kylee Boo and the grass, and bubble I used Polychromos color pencils. After I colored the bubbles I added Glossy Accents on top to give them the round and wet appearance of soap bubbles. Even though the image seems very small and the lines are like loose sketches, when I started coloring I felt it was pretty easy to color especially with pencils. It was really easy to follow the artist's lines. I had partially worked on this image since February (Day:18) for #thedailymarker30day challenge.

Before I forget this month's
Picket Fence Studios and Cardstock
please be sure to use PAPERHOARDING to save 20% on those items
(Note: This does not include New Arrivals)

Here is my card:

Picket Fence Studios: Kylee Boo - S118
The rectangle die is from My Creative Time

I hope you gathered a little inspiration and maybe you can grab
some of these cute stamps with the discount while they last.

Don't forget that there are always lots of inspiration
from the lovely DT ladies over at
Also, lots of games, prizes, limited time free digis sometimes.

You're a Khaleesi

Hello Everyone!

Just having a little fun with the stamps and stencils from Stamp AnnieThing's Conquer The World - Grab and Go! set Many of the Crafty friends that interact with me know that I'm a Game of Thrones Fan. Before anyone told me just by one hint that Annie gave I knew this set would be a Game of Thrones themed set. LOL It was too easy to guess but she wouldn't tell me when I asked the anticipation was eating me up and next thing you know it was sneak peek time and she showed us the stamps. I am over the moon with the Daenerys and the Jon Snow stamps alone and then to get a whole package full of Game of Thrones themed goodies made it even better.

Anyway, here's my card. I colored her up in the color she wore to her wedding to Khal Drogo.

I colored her up with Copic markers.
Used a stencil that comes in the Grab and Go! set and
I just used Distress Oxides to lightly dab on and then
added more colored around the edges to frame the image.
The sentiment is also from at stamp set in the same box.
I then added some Frantage embossing powder from
Stampendous! Lastly I added few silver sequence.

Thank you for visiting.

7 Kids Crafts: Flora

Good morning Everyone!

I'm so excited about this Sweet November release! I've been having a ball coloring these sweet images up. When I first saw the drawings that Amy Young drew up, I was amazed and I thought I would color up Sweet November: Fauna Meadowdancer first. BUT wouldn't you know, on my messy crafty desk Miss Sweet November: Flora Sweetbrier kept looking me and calling me to color her up first. LOL Sweet November: Flora Sweetbrier's majestic wings kept telling me to color her up as a Monarch butterfly. Monarch butterflies are very beautiful and travel about 3000 miles from Canada to Mexico every year without loosing their way. Monarch butterflies are an endangered species which is very sad but there are many groups out there including my Mom that raise them and grow special flowers like Milkweed (there are different types for different regions) to keep their species afloat. Monarch butterflies as beautiful as they are, they also contribute to the health of our planet. It is important not to use pesticides or herbicides on our gardens/yards- EVER!

Okay on to my card. Here is:

and
(for the sentiment)

I just love Flora's pose and long long hair.
I knew I wanted to color her up as a Monarch butterfly
but I was debating if I wanted to color her hair black
since her dress would already be black with white spots.
Then a lightbulb popped on top of my head... LOL
So I colored her hair from a medium to dark brown down
to orange to match her wings. I think it worked out out
pretty neat but I wish I would have left a little more shine.

In the end I added Nuvo Jewel Drops
to the butterfly bush in random spots,
they kind of look like little butterfly eggs.

I colored the entire image with Copic markers:
B000, B00, YR00 (forgot these color but I think it was BV00 and BV01)
YR12, YR04, YR07, N7
YR12, YR04, YR07, YR27, E27, E29
N5, N6, N7, C8
V12, V05, V06, V15, BV13
YG17, YG67

There's a 2 day special Sweet November - Bundle Deal
and today is the last day for that Bundle.
There are lots of games going on at
where you can win some of these cute
Sweet November Stamps. Just hop on over to
7 Kids Customers Create! Facebook group to
join in on all of the fun.

I hope you enjoyed this card.
I really had lots of fun creating it.

Thank you,

Katya Bess
