A Teen Dark Knight's Birthday

Hi back again!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day. Just posting another card I created this week using another Simply B Stamp. Joining Day 16 Challenge with Corinne Jones and Sharon Brown I chose the second challenge: For Teen Scene Hollywood: We were to recreate a movie scene on our project.

The stamp is called Christian the Dark Hero and you can get it here:
http://simplybstamps.net/item_1504/Christian-the-Dark-Hero-Digi.htm

I love Batman movies and my favorites are the newer Batman versions especially The Dark Knight. In this scene The Joker crashes a party then grabs Rachel and tries to intimidate her with his knife and tells one of his thousand stories of how he got his "smiley face" but then Batman (Bruce Wayne) comes to her rescue. The Joker of course always wants Batman to take off his mask.

Since this is a more kid friendly image I felt like the party should have more kid friendly beverages and decorations. I fast drew the party scene myself since I couldn't find a table digi background that wasn't girly or too much stuff going on. Drawing my own backgrounds and elements is another favorite thing for me to add to my cards or projects. I colored the background with Copics and Batman with both Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. The Sentiment, I found online but typed it up on my computer and cut the endges to make it look like torn edges. I hand cut up an image of a bat then inked the edges to make them look like sharp edges... this is my version of a Batarang. Silly, I know. LOL

Hope you like my creation. Thanks for stopping by,

Spoketacular Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope all is great! Today is my youngest brother's birthday. Happy Birthday Bro'! {plays song "1st of tha month" in the background since that's his favorite song for hist birthday lol}He turned 21 today- of course to me he's still a little kid.... heehee I'm the oldest of them all. We always sort of called him my mom's birthday present because he was born the day before her birthday. I bought this stamp one because it's cute, second it was on sale 40% off, third because I knew I needed a "bike" stamp and fourth I know I'll be making him "bike" cards for him to give out. My brother
co-manages a bike shop in Richmond, Calif. named Richmond Spokes or some call it The SpokeShop. Photography, bikes and gardening are my brother's LIFE!!! I'm so proud of him doing many positive things in his life and for the community we grew up in.

Well I wanted to make him something that was simple yet have nothing "girly foofoo" heehee as we crafty ladies tend to do.
The stamp is from: Penny Black # 2881J Hedge Delivery
(I didn't know this was a Berkeley, CA
company which is very close to our city about a 15-20min drive

The sentiment was just printed out, no special inks or lining up.
I added gray brads since bikes have all of these special "Machine Screws"
with socket heads instead of your typical Phillips or slotted screws.

I colored my image with Spectrum Noirs on a this Adirondack Alcohol Ink Cardstock.
They took a while to blend but there was no bleeding or smearing which was awesome for me since this was the first time using this paper. Oh yea, I stamped and colored on the shiny side
(It looks just like shiny photo paper to me...)

Well that's all folks. Enjoy your 3 day weekend if you have a one that long and if not- have fun anyway ;)

Thank you for visiting.

Happy Birthday Robert Jackson aka Mr. JDE

Hello Everyone!

I hope all is well and dandy. Guess what? It's Roberts Birthday!!! Happy birthday to Mr. JDE and his twin sister Kezia!!!

I made my card merging Robert's Logo with Happy Birthday Girl digi which can be found in the special occasions link:
I think it's fun when we use rubber stamps and switch heads or clothes from one character to another. You can also achieve this with digital stamps but the magic about digi stamps is that you can do it on the computer without using "tangible scissors" or wasting paper and ink. I merged the two images with the program GIMP. I'm still new using this program but it wasn't too hard and the best part it's FREE. I colored the image with Copic markers, one Spectrum Noir, Copic Atyou Spica and Sakura gelly rolls. I used this weeks sketch from Jackson Digital Expressions blog.
Completed card :)
The sentiment is from My Creative Time stamps.
The few tiny spots like the sleeves and part of the candle that I couldn't exactly merge or were blank spots I just finished off with a Copic multi-liner.
Hope you like my card and you had fun.
Thank you for stopping by,
Katya Bess

P.S. Don't forget about Robert's Birthday Special to celebrate, he will be offering a Special Birthday Kit with 5 exclusive images to everyone who orders between now and August 29th (more details on my previous post)

My Creative Time Thursday Throwback Challenge - Sports

Hello Everyone!

I created a card for Emma's challenge at My Creative Time.

*** This challenge is a SPORTS CHALLENGE! Use any sports cartridge you have & if you don't own any sports theme carts, just use anything you have & just make sure it has something to do w/sports!:)

Here is the actual link: http://www.creativetimeforme.com/search/label/Throwback%20Thursday

My choice was: MOTORSPORTS!
It's masculine, it's valentine-ish and it's a sport. Hope you like it.
I use Paperdolls cart to create this card I really tried my best to use only one cartridge and I did!

I use a watermark and clear embossing powder to make the helmet shiny.

Encouragement card for 1 of my brother's

Hi everyone,

Hope all is well with you. Yes, I have been M.I.A. but I have been working on some projects (squeezing some in mommy life and daughter's school time.) I haven't been too lazy on crafting I promise ;)

The card here is almost finished but just wanted to take a pix before I made any changes... which I didn't make much in the end.

He is the finished card. I didn't make too many changes as you can see.
I just added a small tag with his name (I cut that out by hand, didn't feel like
looking for a tag to cut and power my Cricut.) Added a charm that reads
"HAND made with LOVE"

The Rose dies are from Spellbinder's Donna Salazar's Rose Creations Die
The rose leaves are also from Spellbinder's and the die is from the Foliage set
My "brother's doll is from Cricut's Paper Doll dress Up cartridge (I trimmed off the cheeks/jaw
because I don't like the big cheeks all of the time plus my bro has a skinny face. lol)
The iron fence is from Cricut Ornamental Iron cartridge. I love all of the intricate designs but
what sucks it's cleaning up all the left overs on the mat... so if you have a second mat just
have it ready so it won't slow you down if you're on a "crafting roll" :)
The face stamps are from Peachy Keen Stamps.

This is the back of the card
it's a Spellbinder's Shapeabilities Dies Ribbon Tag Trio 2
I just cut the the part that you stick the ribbon in off.
The wording was done on Open Office but I'm sure
someone can do it with Microsoft Word.

Side view of the card just so you can see the dimension.

Thank you so much for stooping by. I know I posted it late on my blogspot.

Have a great night.

My Husband's Birthday Card - Hot Tub Love

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to show the card I made for my husband's birthday ( yesterday 4/18). This is my original design I call it "Hot Tub Love." I used 2 stamps from Peachy Keen Stamps PK-660 Laughy Taffy Face Assortment but for "my hubby doll" I added the beard and goatee and made the eyebrows a little bushier like his :) The dolls are are from Paper Doll Dress Up Cart but the faces were too round for our facial shapes... just snipped a little off the cheeks. The Card actually opens and I have a birthday poem for him inside. Hope you liked the card. My hubbt thought it was funny. It was fun making it because he loves getting into his hot tub and it's usually our alone time when the kids are sleeping... (shhh.... don't tell nobody  )

Happy Birthday Hector

Hi Everyone,

Just posting the card I made for one of my little brothers. I made it on my cricut I still have to work on proper measurements so the pop up cake can look better when it's open. I guess there is a die out there but I'd rather do it on my cricut. Just need some practice and some adjustments I guess. One of my first errors that I made today was that I made it with cardstock and it's well lets just say it's too stiff. lol so then I had to work with thin scrapbook paper instead- worked much better on the mobility (the pop up part). Well, Hope you kind of like it- It's had working on male cards for some reason.

Good night- Have to get some rest and wake up early for church. Good night and blessings to everyone.
