Passionate Paper Creations: Power Poppy Coneflowers

Hello Crafty Friends,

I had loads of fun creating this card using Power Poppy: Easy Breezy Coneflowers. My Mom has many flowers and even works at a school garden. At Verde Partnership Garden there are many pretty flowers, among them there are these bright yellow Cornflowers which inspired me to choose this color. I love that these flowers are available in digital for so I can blow them up or make them smaller if I wanted to. Thank you so much for the friends and sponsors over at powerpoppy.com

I used primarily Polychromos color pencils to color my image.

Cadmium Yellow, Caput Mortuum, Sanguine, Light Cadmium Yellow,
Cadmium Orange, Burnt Umber,
Permanent Green, Hookers Green,
Cold Greey VI, Light Cobalt Turquoise

Then I lightly daubed it with
Distress Saphire (Distress Oxide)

Thank you so much for visiting.

Passionate Paper Creations: Whimsy Stamps Shelley

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all  having a lovely day! Over at Passionate Paper Creations & Friends, the sponsor of the week is Whimsy Stamps. I love many of their adorable and sweet stamps. They carry dies, clear, rubber and even digi stamps. The stamp I used is called Shelley (digital), you can also find her in Cling Rubber Stamp form here: Shelley (cling Rubber stamp.) I had so much fun coloring up this cute little mermaid. that I wanted to give her a two-tone type of hair and tail and I also used some Nuvo Jewel Drops that I purchased from 7 Kids Crafts.

I used Copics to color her up.
Here are most of the colors I used:

V01, V12, BV01, BV04
B00, B0000
BG01, BG02
Y11, BV04, BV01, V01
Y11, G43, YG95, YG03,
E70, E71

Thank you very much Whimsy Stamps for sponsoring us this week at:

To get the free Baby Bunny digi all you have to do is join the page, download and save the image.

Thank you Kelly for sponsoring us over at
Passionate Paper Creations this week.

This month Kelly is also having a 20% off sale for most The Greeting Farm stamps and lots of Mixed Media, check out the vendor of the month sale here: http://www.7kidscrafts.com/vendor-of-the-month-sale/ make sure to use code: TGF

On to my card... I used Mermaid Kisses from the The Greeting Farm once again but this time I used Copic markers and Distress Oxides instead.

First I used Distress Oxides:
Broken China and Brushed Corduroy
for my background. I then used a watercolor
brush to draw sun rays peeking through the water.
I also tried to draw water movement by making fine lines
in random areas and on the ocean floor as well.
I stamped the mermaids on the background
but I also stamped them on a separate alcohol
marker paper so I won't contaminate my
markers with the Distress oxides.

Also, don't forget that there are 3 total Sweet November
"Vault Images" this month but only until 3/22:
and if you join the
7 KIDS Customers Create! Facebook Page
you can find a 4th Baby Bunny for free!!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Katya Bess

Passionate Paper Creations: Fighter Gwen

Hello again Crafty Friends,

This week as stated on my last post, at Passionate Paper CreationsSome Odd Girl is our sponsor. I love the versatile images found at Some Odd Girl and this one happens to be a digital stamp called Fighter Gwen. I love this one because it focuses on her strong pose and face.
skin:
E50, E21, E53, R21, R30 and Polychromos Caput Mortuum
eyes:
 E29, E25, E97
lips:
R21, E04, Polychromos Caput Mortuum
head scarf:
 R27, R46 and R59
hair:
E79, E29, E25
jumpsuit:
B41, B97, B99

For the background I used
Distress Ink: Mustard Seed

I chose these colors to look like the iconic
"We Can Do It!" Poster by J. Howard Miller who created
it to boost worker morale during Word War II. During those
times women were encouraged to take wartime jobs in defense
industries.
I also used this quote I've seen many times before:
"Here’s to STRONG WOMEN.
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them."

To color the hair I colored in long strokes following the hair lines
drawn by the artist,
for skin and headscarf I blended them as smooth as I could
and for the jumpsuit, to create the jean texture, I made hatch lines.
